Description
The Volkswagen E-Bora is the electric version of the Bora sedan and has similar dimensional characteristics:
- Length – 4.67 m;
- Width – 1,815 m;
- Height – 1.47 m;
- Wheelbase length – 2.68 m.
MacPherson strut suspension is installed on the front axle, and independent multi-link suspension is installed on the rear axle. Front and rear brakes are ventilated discs. The hand brake is electric. Wheels are light alloy with a diameter of 16 inches. Moreover, from the factory, the car is equipped with tires that have a 7.5% reduction in rolling resistance. Thanks to this, the range on a single charge has increased, and the recovery efficiency has also increased. (Recuperation is the conversion of vehicle motion energy into electrical energy).
Design and interior
The appearance of the Volkswagen E-Bora is almost completely identical to its counterpart - the Volkswagen Bora, equipped with an internal combustion engine. These cars are so similar that Volkswagen designers had to install the E-Bora nameplate throughout the body.
The interior of the Volkswagen E-Bora also almost completely copies the interior of the Volkswagen Bora. The only thing is that the dashboard has an analogue panel showing the recovery efficiency. A small electronic display is also installed, which displays the remaining battery charge and the distance the car will travel on the remaining charge.
The interior is also equipped with:
- Manual air conditioner;
- Central locking;
- Remote control of central locking;
- Parking sensors;
- GPS navigation;
- Bluetooth;
- Power windows.
Battery: range and charging time
The battery is lithium. Capacity – 40 kW*h. Full charging time – 5 hours. Cruising range on a full charge – 240 km.
Construction
The electric car, like its counterpart with an internal combustion engine, is built on the MQB platform, the name of which can be translated as “modular transverse matrix”. This platform allows you to easily change the weight and size characteristics of the car.
Volkswagen E-Bora is equipped with one 100-kilowatt synchronous electric motor (power 136 hp), located above the driven front axle. It is mated to a single-speed automatic transmission. The electric motor is capable of accelerating the electric car to a speed of 150 km/h.
The electric car has three driving modes:
- Normal;
- Eco;
- Eco+.
The electric vehicle also has 5 recovery modes, in which the battery partially replenishes its reserve. The Volkswagen E-Bora is equipped with a vacuum-independent iBooster brake booster from Bosch. The iBooster booster reduces the car's braking distance, reduces the response time to pressing the brake pedal and increases the efficiency of converting driving energy into electrical energy.
Options
Volkswagen E-Bora comes in two trim levels: basic and top-end. But from a technical point of view, there are not many differences between them. So, the top version is equipped with:
- Front side airbags;
- Front and rear curtain airbags;
- Electrically adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger;
- Multifunction steering wheel.

The Volkswagen E-Bora electric car is equipped with the following safety devices:
- Front airbag for driver and front passenger;
- Isofix child seat anchors;
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS);
- Brake force distribution (EBD);
- Brake Assist;
- Traction control system (TCS);
- Stabilization system (ESP);
- Lift assist system;
- Automatic hand brake.
