Electric car Toyota C-HR EV
Toyota C-HR EV is an electric version of the popular Japanese crossover. It was presented at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2018. The launch of production at the Chinese plant began in 2020. Since 2021, the electric car has been exported to Europe and the USA.
Toyota C-HR EV weight and size characteristics:
- Length – 4.4 meters;
- Width – 1,795 meters;
- Height – 1.575 meters;
- Curb weight of the electric vehicle is 1.78 tons.
Shock absorbers on the front axle are MacPherson struts, and on the rear axle there is an independent multi-link suspension. Brakes – disc (front – ventilated). Light alloy wheel size – 215/60 R17.
Options
Toyota C-HR EV is available in 5 trim levels. The differences between them:
- The basic version does not have anti-fog versions. The rest have LED fog lights;
- In the basic version, unlike the others, there is no adaptive cruise control;
- The basic version does not have a rear view camera;
- The basic version does not have an active braking system;
- The basic version does not have automatic switching to low beam;
- The first three trim levels do not have a digital dashboard;
- In the first three trim levels there are no rear side airbags;
- In the first three trim levels there is no electric adjustment of the driver's seat;
- In the first three trim levels, halogen optics are installed; in the two highest trim levels, halogen optics are replaced with LED ones.
Otherwise, the differences in the trim levels lie in the quality of the interior trim and a number of additional functions for the driver and passengers.
Design and interior
The appearance and interior of the Toyota C-HR EV are almost completely identical to the appearance and interior of its counterpart with a gasoline engine. The differences are only in small details. For example, the absence of a radiator grille and exhaust pipe. The wheels were also replaced with new ones with less aerodynamic drag. Note that there are also new LED optics, including fog lights, a panoramic sunroof and a new roof trim.
The interior of the Toyota C-HR EV in all trim levels is equipped with:
- Separate climate control for driver and front passenger;
- Central locking with remote control;
- Possibility of keyless access to the interior and starting the engine.
The multimedia system has the following capabilities:
- GPS navigation;
- Touch screen;
- Voice control;
- Bluetooth;
- Audio interfaces USB, AUX.
Construction
The Toyota C-HR EV electric crossover is built on the E-TNGA architecture. This is an electric version of the universal modular design TNGA, on which the Japanese automaker builds front-, rear- and all-wheel drive cars, widely varying their weight and size characteristics. The E-TNGA platform can also accommodate electric motors and batteries with varying power and capacity.
The Toyota C-HR EV is equipped (in all trim levels) with a 150 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The maximum speed is forcibly limited at 160 km/h. The engine is coupled with an automatic single-stage transmission. The electric motor is located above the rear axle.
Battery: capacity and charging time
The Toyota C-HR EV has a lithium battery with a capacity of 54.3 kWh. There are 2 types of charging available - fast (from direct current at charging stations) and slow (from alternating current in a household power supply). The maximum range on a single charge is 400 km.
Quick charging time (up to 80% capacity) – 2 hours. Slow charging time (100%) – 13 hours.
Safety
Toyota C-HR EV is equipped with the following active and passive safety devices for the driver and passengers:
- Airbags for driver and front driver;
- Side airbags for the front and rear rows of seats;
- Front and rear curtain airbags;
- Mounts for Isofix child seats;
- Front and rear parking sensors;
- Rear video camera;
- Tire pressure monitoring;
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS);
- Brake Assist;
- Traction control system (TCS);
- Stabilization system (ESP);
- Active braking system (except for the basic version);
- Automatic handbrake;
- Lift assist system.
