Description

The Tesla Model 3 electric car is assembled for the Chinese market at a factory specially built for this purpose. The dimensional characteristics of this electric sports crossover are as follows:

An independent double-wishbone suspension is installed on the front axle, and an independent multi-link suspension is installed on the rear axle. Ventilation disc brakes are installed on both axles.

Design and interior

The design of the Tesla Model 3 electric car compared to its predecessor, the Tesla Model S, is unusual and even revolutionary. For example, the electric car does not have the usual radiator grille for cars with internal combustion engines. Instead, a sharp visor was installed, which reduced the frontal aerodynamic drag to 0.23.

Also, to reduce aerodynamic drag, the door handles are completely recessed into the body of the electric car. To open the doors, you need to press one edge of the handle so that the opposite edge moves out of the body (swing principle). The extended edge of the handle must be pulled towards you and the door will open.

The interior of the Tesla Model 3 is designed in a minimalist style. A 15-inch touch screen is installed in the center of the cabin, which displays all the relevant information about the operation of the car. Therefore, there is no traditional dashboard in front of the driver. Its information will be displayed on the touch screen.

On the sides of the steering wheel (quite simple, no frills) there are two joysticks. With their help, you can adjust various car devices (mirrors, steering wheel, etc.). To do this, you just need to select the desired settings menu on the touch screen.

Battery: range and charging time

The Tesla Model 3 is equipped with a lithium battery with a capacity of 60 kW in the first two initial trim levels and 75 kW in the three highest trim levels. For a battery with a capacity of 60 kW, the maximum rated range is 460 km. For a battery with a capacity of 75 kW, the maximum rated range is 590-600 km (the difference is determined by the power of the electric motor and the type of drive).

Both batteries support two charging modes - fast (with direct current at charging stations) and slow (with alternating current from a household power supply). The 100% charging time for a 75 kW battery in slow mode is 10.5 hours. The 100% charging time in fast mode is 6.5 hours, but 80% of the charge is replenished in less than 25 minutes.

Construction

The first three trim levels of the Tesla Model 3 are rear-wheel drive. The two highest trim levels are all-wheel drive. Accordingly, rear-wheel drive electric cars are equipped with one engine (above the rear axle) with a power of 175 kW and a maximum torque of 375 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. All-wheel drive electric cars are equipped with two (above each axle) electric motors with a power of 220 kW (416 Nm), 258 kW (527 Nm) and 340 kW (639 Nm). Acceleration to 100 km/h for these electric motors is 5.3, 4.7 and 3.4 seconds, respectively. At the same time, electric motors in all configurations are brushless, operating on permanent magnets.

With the exception of the top-end configuration, light alloy wheels in the size 235/45 R18 are installed on the electric car. In the top-end configuration, the electric car is equipped with light-alloy wheels measuring 235/40 R19.
