Mercedes EQE – elegant, powerful, exclusive

Mercedes EQE can be ordered in three configuration options:

• basic version - it has a closed black radiator grille, powerful LED headlights, bright taillights, combined with a common light strip. The car is equipped with alloy wheels with a signature “10-spoke” design;
• Electric Art – in this version, chrome trim elements appeared on the front and rear aprons. The electric car is equipped with wheels with five double spokes;
• AMG Line is an exterior that emphasizes the dynamic character of the electric sedan. This option combines the features of a sports coupe and the luxury of German premium business class sedans.

Tooling packages

For each exterior option, you can select several equipment packages. In total, the German automaker offers five packages:

• extended;

• premium;
• premium plus;
• overnight package.

The extended package includes:

In the top AMG Line trim, the seats are upholstered only in perforated eco-leather. Also in this configuration, exclusive foot mats with an embroidered "Edition 1" inscription appear in the cabin, and instead of the usual one, a sports steering wheel upholstered in nappa leather is installed.

Instead of the traditional dashboard and multimedia system screen in the top packages, the Mercedes EQE interior is equipped with an MBUX hyperscreen. Its width is almost 1.4 meters. It occupies almost the entire area of the front panel. From a technical point of view, these are three separate screens covered by one common cover:

• digital instrument panel for the driver;
• multimedia system screen;
• separate screen for the front passenger.

But visually it is extremely difficult to find the boundaries between them. They merge into one wide strip. Another difference with the MBUX Hyperscreen is that turbine-like vents are inserted on the right and left sides directly into the body of the screen itself.

The lid is made of transparent plastic using injection molding technology. 12 actuators support touch feedback. All three screens are made using OLED technology. There is a backlight installed at the bottom, creating the feeling that the hyperscreen is in the void above the front panel.

The salon is equipped with a Burmester surround sound system. There are 15 speakers that are perfectly tuned and placed at key points, the sound from which is amplified by a digital amplifier. A subwoofer in a bass reflex housing is responsible for low frequencies. Its power is 640 W.

A panoramic sunroof can be installed in the cabin, which can be closed using a touch slider.

An independent double-wishbone suspension is installed on the front axle, and an independent multi-link suspension is installed on the rear axle. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on all axles. The two top trim levels feature light alloy wheels with 235/50 R19 tires, while the top-end AMG Line trims feature 255/40 R20 tires on the electric vehicles.

Engine and battery

Mercedes EQE is equipped with a permanent magnet electric motor with a power of 215 kW. It creates a maximum torque of 556 Nm, due to which the sedan accelerates to 100 km/h. in 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed is forcibly limited to 180 km/h.

In all trim levels, the sedan is rear-wheel drive. The electric motor is mounted above the rear axle. It is interacted with by an automatic single-stage transmission, the operation of which, together with the engine, is controlled by an intelligent system. It optimizes energy consumption depending on the characteristics of the vehicle's movement.

The Mercedes EQE has a battery with a capacity of 96.1 kW. With this capacity, the electric car will travel 752 km without recharging in the basic configuration, and 717 km in the two higher trim levels. The difference of 35 km is that the top trim levels have more energy-intensive equipment.

At fast charging stations, the battery fills 80% of its charge in 32 minutes. Slow charging takes 13 hours to fully charge the battery.

Comfort level

The Mercedes EQE interior is equipped with:

• automatic air conditioning;
• separate climate control for driver and passenger;
• central locking and its remote control;
• keyless access to the interior and keyless engine start;
• adaptive cruise control with autonomy level L2.

The multimedia system of the electric sedan is part of the only on-board computer that controls all systems and safety functions of the electric vehicle. The central board of the on-board computer consists of 8 independent cores, and its RAM is 24 GB.

The on-board computer has artificial intelligence and machine learning functions. If the driver, for example, regularly turns on the heated steering wheel and front seat, the on-board computer will after a while begin to independently turn on the heated steering wheel and seat as soon as the driver turns on the engine.
