HONDA e:NS1: the embodiment of future technologies
The electric crossover HONDA e:NS1 has been produced since 2022 at the factory facilities of the Chinese automaker Dongfeng. The electric car is built on the proprietary Japanese e:N Architecture platform, created specifically for front-wheel drive electric cars. The platform is characterized by excellent driving performance, good dynamics and maneuverability.
Options
The HONDA e:NS1 crossover is available on the market in four trim levels:
- E-type (low configuration);
- E-type (advanced configuration);
- E-dynamic (low configuration);
- E-dynamic (advanced configuration).
In E-type trim levels, the electric car is equipped with electric motors with a capacity of 134 kW and a battery with a capacity of 53.6 kWh. Cruising range on one battery charge – 420 km.
In E-dynamic configurations, the electric car is equipped with electric motors with a power of 150 kW and a battery with a capacity of 68.8 kWh. Cruising range on one battery charge – 510 km.
Appearance
When developing the crossover’s exterior, aerodynamic technologies borrowed from Honda’s sports division were introduced. These racing technologies enhance the EV's ride and handling and improve its response to driver inputs. For example, rigidity was added to the wheelbase to make the electric car more controllable at high speeds.
At the same time, the HONDA e:NS1 crossover does not look too sporty, which, as a rule, means a decrease in comfort for rear-row passengers. On the contrary, the electric car looks powerful and powerful. And aerodynamics are achieved through subtle details - the absence of roof rails, the rear door opening handles are located on the perimeter closer to the windows, etc.
The front bumper is missing a radiator grille. Instead, there is a solid steel sheet with the Honda logo, which is illuminated from the inside. This sheet of steel lifts up (to do this, you need to press the button located next to it), and underneath there are connectors for fast and slow charging of the battery.
The main optics are made in the “dragon eyes” style characteristic of the Chinese market. Daytime running lights and fog lights are located very low, almost at the lower edge of the bumper, decorated with chrome trim, glossy diffusers and a decorative grille.
The rear optics are raised to the middle of the tailgate. Two brake lights connected to each other by a continuous world strip. It improves driving safety at night and in bad weather conditions. The World Lane helps the car driver behind you to maintain a safe distance. Brake lights are also mounted on the edges of the spoiler above the rear window.
The massive rear bumper is made of dark glossy material. Already in the basic configuration, the tailgate comes with an electric drive, which independently raises and lowers the door.
Interior
In all trim levels, the interior of the HONDA e:NS1 is trimmed with perforated eco-leather. Some elements are finished with glossy or plastic inserts. The salon is very spacious in both the front and rear rows. A tall person can sit comfortably in the back row without any discomfort in his legs. The front row seats are equipped with electrically adjustable positions.
Already in the basic configuration, the HONDA e:NS1 crossover comes with a glass roof with two separate electric hatches - separately for the front and rear rows of seats.
Main technical characteristics
Weight and dimensions characteristics of the electric crossover HONDA e:NS1:
- length – 4.39 meters;
- width – 1.79 meters;
- height – 1.56 meters;
- wheelbase length – 2.61 meters.
An independent MacPherson strut suspension is installed on the front axle, and a torsion beam-type dependent suspension on trailing arms is installed on the rear axle. The two lower trim levels are equipped with alloy wheels with 215/60 R17 tires. The two older trim levels are equipped with alloy wheels measuring 225/50 R18.
Engine and battery
The 134 kW electric motor creates a maximum torque of 310 N*m. The 150 kW electric motor also creates a maximum torque of 310 N*m. Its average electricity consumption is 16 kWh/100 km. The maximum speed of both electric motors is forcibly limited to 150 km/h.
In all trim levels, the HONDA e:NS1 electric car is front-wheel drive. The permanent magnet synchronous motor is located above the front axle. The electric motor is paired with an automatic single-speed transmission.
The 53.6 kWh battery is fully charged from a household electrical outlet (slow charging) in 9 hours. The battery with a capacity of 68.8 kWh from a household network is fully charged in 9.5 hours. At fast charging stations, 80% of the charge for both types of batteries is restored after 40 minutes.
Comfort level
The HONDA e:NS1 electric car features the latest version of the Honda Connect 3.0 intelligent system, which creates a safe and comfortable space for the driver and passengers. The intelligent Honda Connect 3.0 system interacts with people through a human-machine interface displayed on the 15.1-inch screen of the multimedia system.
The Honda Connect 3.0 intelligent system supports more than 20 functions and has a voice assistant with artificial intelligence. The system can maintain constant communication with the smart home. It constantly monitors the level of electrical energy consumption by the engine.
The 10.25-inch instrument panel for the driver is also fully digital. It displays all the important information about the electric vehicle and its movement:
- travel speed;
- remaining battery charge;
- the distance that an electric car will travel on the remaining battery charge;
- actual electric power consumption by the engine;
- transmission;
- mileage;
- ambient air temperature.
Security level
The HONDA e:NS1 electric car features the following safety systems:
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW);
- blind spot monitoring;
- intelligent traffic sign recognition;
- dynamic prompts while reversing;
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW);
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS);
- Traffic Traffic Assist (TJA);
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS);
- automatic parking assistance;
- 360 degree panoramic image of the surrounding space.
In addition, the on-board computer of the electric vehicle constantly scans the driver’s face. Scanning identifies the driver, and the system also tracks his:
- symptoms of fatigue;
- distracting his attention from the road;
- driving in a dangerous position.

According to Japanese designers, the HONDA e:NS1 electric car should occupy the niche of premium urban crossovers. Moreover, the main emphasis is on the technological equipment of the electric vehicle and its additional capabilities. The Honda Connect 3.0 electronic system is regularly updated, and artificial intelligence capabilities are constantly being improved.
