Description
The BYD DOLPHIN electric car is assembled at a specially built plant in China. The dimensional characteristics of this modern electric car are as follows:
- Length – 4.12 m;
- Width – 1.77 m;
- Height – 1.57 m;
- Wheelbase length – 2.7 m.
The front axle is equipped with a suspension of type MacFerson, on the rear axle – semi-independent. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on both axles.
Design and interior
The appearance of BYD DOLPHIN has a lot from BYD SONG, but BYD DOLPHIN the design is closer to the class of compact cars. But at the same time, the silhouette has not lost its sporty outline. Aerodynamic body contours reduced air resistance, which means increased range on a single charge. This will be noticeable primarily during country trips at speeds close to maximum.
To reduce the consumption of battery capacity, all BYD DOLPHIN optics are LED. Automotive optics are equipped with a headlight height adjustment function and automatic switching to low beam.
The interior of the cabin is very fun and fresh. Comfortable leather chairs, wide armrests, double stand for large glasses, The dashboard and dashboard correspond to the style of the car's name (dolphin). The main attribute of multimedia is a large touch screen, which displays all the information about the vehicle’s on-board systems and current driving data (speed, battery charge, range, etc.). You can control the screen not only by touch, but also by voice commands. The screen also has ports for Flash drives, onto which video data from the electric vehicle’s surveillance cameras is automatically recorded.
Due to the absence of traditional multimedia system screens and climate control, as well as the absence of an internal combustion engine under the hood, the interior is very spacious. There is enough space for both the driver and rear row passengers. There was also enough space for the trunk. Its volume is 1310 liters.
The BYD DOLPHIN salon is equipped with:
- Adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger.
- Multifunction steering wheel with height and reach adjustment.
- Non-openable panoramic ceiling;
- Electrically adjustable, folding mirrors, heated, memory and auto dimming.
Construction
BYD DOLPHIN is front-wheel drive in all versions. Therefore, it is equipped with one permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, which is coupled with an automatic single-stage transmission.
Battery: range and charging time
BYD DOLPHIN is equipped with a lithium battery (BLADE) with a capacity of 44.9 kWh. The power reserve is determined by the power of the electric motor. In the basic version, the power reserve is 301 km, and in the top version – 401 km.
Battery charging is performed in two modes - fast and slow. Fast charging is carried out with constant current and 100% charge replenishment occurs in 1 hour, but 80% charge replenishment occurs in just 22 minutes. Slow charging is carried out using alternating current from a household network. Complete replenishment in slow mode occurs in 7 hours.
Safety
BYD DOLPHIN is equipped with the following safety devices:
- rear parking sensors;
- Rear view camera and 360 cameras;
- Front airbags for the driver and front passenger;
- Side airbags for the front and rear rows of seats;
- Curtain airbags for the front and rear rows of seats;
- Isofix child seat anchors;
- Tire pressure monitoring system;
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS);
- Brake Assist;
- Traction control system (TCS);
- Stabilization system (ESP);
- Active braking system;
- Hill start assistance system;
The electric car is also equipped with an automatic hand brake.
Options
The BYD DOLPHIN electric car is available in four trim levels - BASE, FASHOIN, FREE and KNIGHT. The differences between these versions are both in battery capacity and interior trim:
- The basic version is equipped with alloy wheels in dimensions 195/60 R16, in the top version – 205/55 R17.
- The basic version is equipped with a 70-kilowatt electric motor (maximum torque 180 Nm), the top version is equipped with a 130-kilowatt electric motor (290 Nm).
- Differences in electric motor power determine differences in maximum speed (160 and 185 km/h, respectively) and acceleration dynamics (9.7 and 7.9 seconds to 100 km/h).
